Komola (35)

Escape from misery and control over earning

Komola is Daughter of a small shopowner. She studies up to grade 6. She has a son of 12 years. Her brother is a broker. Her husband gave him 2.5 lac taka to migrate but her brother failed to send Komola's husband abroad. She was physically abused and tortured by her husband and mother in law for wasting money by her brother. Komola attempted suicide to escape from the torture but she failed. Finally she decided to migrate to return the money that his brother (deceased by then) wasted. A woman working in KS A from the same village arranged visa for her and Komola paid 50,000 BDT to the broker. She migrated to Saudi Arabia in 2008 leaving behind her son. She was homesick after going abroad. The employer took her to agency office for return. They convinced her to stay and send her back to the same house. The employ-er was happy with her return. Komola tried to focus on work as she had no option to return. Komola was tipped 5,000 BDT on the first month by the employer. I was allowed to call home twice in a month. Komola was employed in a 16 member family. They had parties at home every month and Komola saved from tip she received from guests. She sent 20 thousand taka in the first month. She sent all money to her husband but when she returned after 2 and half years, she soon found that the money she sent was spent by husband and nothing left for her. Komola sent her brother to Malay-sia and paid the cost from her own savings.
